LinkedIn Product Pages

I’ve always been a fan of LinkedIn.  It provides great networking tools and invaluable connections to prospects and qualified talent.  If you use LinkedIn correctly, you could open up a whole new world that you never knew existed.  That’s why it’s important to use all of LinkedIn’s features and keep your profile up-to-date.  But most computer-saavy marketers and Bob Executives have harnessed the surface power of this business social networking tool.  It’s the deeper stuff that really matters.  That’s why the release of LinkedIn’s new “Product Pages” is so important.  Here’s why.

You’d be surprised at how many businesses have not set up their LinkedIn Business Profile.  It’s easy, it’s free and it takes all but five minutes to set up.  But most companies do not even realize they have the opportunity to set it up.  It is a great way to provide a brief overview of your company and connect all of the employees at your organization.  However, LinkedIn just recently took this business profile one step further.  Now employees have the option of adding “Product Pages” to the profile to showcase the products and services of the company.  This is a great addition for a few reasons:

  1. It adds value to your business page. You now have the opportunity to present to customers and prospective customers the value of your products directly through LinkedIn.  You control the message so you can be as detailed and as marketable as you want.  It’s any sales managers dream.
  2. It adds SEO value. You can add links to each product that drop visitors off directly at the product page on your website.  Should you offer an e-commerce solution, this could be a valuable way of generating targeted leads.  Most importantly however, you are generating important back-links to your site from a site with a high authority.
  3. It creates a social connection to your products. LinkedIn has added the capability to incorporate videos and special offers in to your business page.  If you’ve been saavy enough to create a video for your key products, LinkedIn is giving you the opportunity to add that video to your page to give your customers a more interactive experience with your product.  You can also add specials to your page with a description, an offer and a URL.

I’m sure as more and more companies adopt these comprehensive product pages, LinkedIn will continue to add more features and additions that will help businesses connect with their contacts online.  Business is now very strongly driven by social interactions online, so taking advantage of these tools on the largest social network for business is more important now than ever!
